CRAFTED IN TILE. BUILT TO LAST.

Premium tiling, waterproofing, stone and bathroom finishes across Western Australia.

We Tile. You Smile.

02 — The build-up

What’s under the tile matters.

A finished surface is the last of six decisions. Scroll to take it apart.

  1. Tile

The only layer anyone ever sees.

  2. Adhesive

Combed and back-buttered for full coverage.

  3. Waterproofing

    Continuous, reinforced at every junction.

  4. Screed

Set to falls so water reaches the waste.

  5. Substrate

Checked and corrected before anything goes on it.

Kabura does more than lay tiles.

03The sequence

Built properly from the first layer.

Seven stages, in order. Skip one and the finish will tell on you eventually — usually in the most visible corner of the room.

  1. 01

    Substrate

Everything is judged against what is underneath. Sound, supported, and flat enough to take what follows.

  2. 02

    Preparation

Strip out, correct, sheet and pack. The stage that decides whether the rest of the job is easy or impossible.

  3. 03

    Screed

Set from the waste and the finished floor level, worked to a straight edge so the falls hold across the whole area.

  4. 04

    Waterproofing

Continuous across the wet area, reinforced at every junction, sealed at every penetration, and given time to cure.

  5. 05

    Adhesive

The right adhesive for the tile and the substrate, combed and back-buttered for full coverage behind the whole tile.

  6. 06

    Tile

Set out before it is set down. Cuts balanced, joints lined through, levels held across the plane.

  7. 07

    Grout

Packed, cleaned and finished, with silicone where the surface needs to move rather than crack.

Perth metropolitan area

Perth

Tiling, waterproofing and bathroom work across the Perth metropolitan area, covering apartments and inner-suburban homes as well as commercial fit-outs.

  • Apartment work usually means strata approval, lift bookings and restricted work hours — all of which change how a bathroom is sequenced.
  • Inner-suburban housing stock varies enormously in age, so substrates are assessed on site rather than assumed.
